Whether you are a Reiki practitioner, spiritual enthusiast, empath, or anything in between, practicing energetic hygiene is crucial to feeling like your most confident and empowered self! Our energy requires care and attention just like our physical bodies, but often we find ourselves wondering... how do I protect my energy and keep it clear and healthy? 1. Use Palo Santo or Sage
Palo Santo (holy wood) and sage have been used by healers for centuries. Although scientific studies are now demonstrating the antibacterial, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory qualities of these materials, they are best known for their ability to clear negative energy and uplift the vibration of a space. Use sage (sometimes called smudge) smoke to clear your aura or home by lighting the sage stick and wafting the smoke around you while setting a clear intention. Then use palo santo to uplift your vibration and enhance positive energy.
2. Use Grounding or Clearing Crystals
Crystals are a fantastic way to practice energetic hygiene and protection because of their range of uses. Cleansing crystals like selenite or clear quartz are great for purifying and uplifting your energy, while grounding stones like tourmaline and obsidian are perfect for protection. Let your intuition guide you to the right crystal for you, then play with keeping one in your pocket, by your bed, or on your desk!
3. Use the Violet Light Technique
Visualization is a powerful tool when it comes to practicing energetic protection! To use the Violet Light, simply envision yourself surrounded by an orb of powerful, pure, violet light. Violet is a high frequency color that resonates with the energy of protection and sovereignty, and when we surround ourselves with the Violet Light, it provides a protective barrier between us and external energies!
4. Swing or Shake Your Body
Our physical bodies are powerful healers. When we know how to activate our innate healing potential, our vibrations raise and our energy gets stronger! Swinging or shaking your body mimics your nervous system response and promotes healing while also releasing and shaking away energies that no longer serve you.
5. Call In Your Spirit Team!
We all have a loving, supportive team of spiritual beings who are here to offer us guidance, protection, and wisdom. Even if you don't know exactly who is on your Spirit Team, simply calling to them for protection or energetic cleansing is enough! Our Spirit Teams respond to our free will, so when we call upon them we give our permission for them to intercede on our behalf. We don't have to walk this path alone!
6. Take an Epsom Salt Bath
Working with nature is a powerful tool for resetting our energy. Epsom salts, or magnesium salts, connect us with nature's energy while purifying and cleansing our own. Give yourself a good soak in a warm epsom salt bath for 20 minutes, and feel your energy cleanse, renew, and strengthen!
7. Self-Reiki Time!
Although it seems simple, self-Reiki is one of the best ways to maintain your energetic health! Whether you set aside five minutes or a full hour for a self-Reiki session, connecting with the Divine energy of Reiki immediately purifies and uplifts your energy (and relieves anxiety!). Step back into your regular self-Reiki practice for a week, and see if you notice a difference in your energetic health.
8. Practice Gratitude
Practicing gratitude is a tangible way to uplift our energy, rewire our thoughts, and bring us back into alignment with the Divine. We live in a Universe of 'Yes', so what we focus on will amplify! When we focus on gratitude and appreciation, more blessings will flow into our lives. Try writing down five things you are grateful for each night!
9. Take Three Deep Breaths
It may sound simple, but taking three deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth has been proven to shift us into a parasympathetic state, meaning that our rest and digest response is activated simply by breathing deeply. Emotions like anxiety and stress trigger our sympathetic nervous system and decrease the strength of our energy. Never underestimate the power of three deep breaths to bring you back into a state of alignment and flow!
