Physicality & Spirituality of the Chakras
Translated from Sanskrit, the word Chakra means 'wheel" or "mystical circle."
To think that Sanskrit is at least 4,000 years old (maybe even older!) is crazy! Often when we think about those who have come before us, we see them as more primitive and wild. But in moments like this, where we realize that some of the most spiritual terms and highest wisdoms have been passed down through human history to meet us today, we know that some people of the past were highly in-tune with deep eternal truths.
One of these truths is about the Chakras.
These 7 "mystical circles" are energy centers that govern our health and other manifestations we create in this reality. They begin at the base of our spine and end at the crown of our head, lined up and connected to each other in a myriad of ways in the energetic world.
From a physical perspective, the Chakras correspond to individual nerve plexuses in the nervous system. Each Chakra is connected to the physical body's organs through this system.
From a scientific perspective, energy moves through the body by the actions of the nervous system. Electrical impulses must be sent from the brain to the body in order for muscles to move, senses to perceive, and life to occur.
If you take this movement of electricity running through the body and see it in a more spiritual perspective, you begin to see how the Qi or Chi of ancient healing traditions resembles these same electrical forces.
Science has shown that these moving energies are what keep our bodies alive. In ancient yoga traditions it is believed that "Universal Life Force Energy" is what does the same.
.
When we experience trauma or other fexperiences which cause changes in our emotional and mental bodies, our energy body becomes affected. Energy becomes congested in certain Chakras during these moments, causing the flow of energy in the body to change and slow down.
When this happens, the physical body experiences illness or dis-ease in the Chakras that have these energetic blocks.
All illnesses, and even broken bones, etc., are communicating to us that there is something deeper going on at play. There is some emotional or mental state that is festering within our subconscious that wants to be addressed and healed.
When we engage in practices like breath work, yoga, meditation, Reiki and exercise, we are able to help move the stuck energy, allowing it to flow with more ease throughout the nervous system. This heals the Chakra blocks and thus the physical organs and illnesses association with each energy center.
These days more and more people are realizing the importance of personal development- physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
The idea of mental health being a huge priority in life is hitting the forefront of healing modalities- both scientifically and in the "woo woo" world. It is all coming together in an array of "science meets spirituality."
If you or someone you love is experiencing illness- physically or mentally, understand that energy in the body is blocked. Look into the Chakra associated with that specific part of the body experiencing illness and see which areas of your life need to change or what you need to let go of.
Since the Chakras relate to each other and connect energetically in different ways, it is important to work on all Chakras. It is wise to find balance in all areas of life.
Illness is our bodies speaking to us about our energy. Find balance to find flow.
